Gil's journey in the coffee industry began with his grandfather, Sr. Miguel Constante, a coffee grower in Campos Altos township. This passion was passed down through generations to Gil's mother, Elizena, and then to Gil himself, who eagerly embraced the family legacy.
In 1995, Gil planted his first six hectares of coffee. Since then, he has consistently expanded his farms, always prioritizing quality. Espigão do Palmital farm, located in the municipality of Pratinha, Minas Gerais, boasts a prime location in the Cerrado Mineiro region. This area benefits from a perfect balance of climate seasons—a hot and humid summer followed by a mild, dry winter—which significantly enhances coffee quality.
The farm's ideal terroir, characterized by mountainous terrain, high altitudes, and consistent rainfall, is perfect for cultivating specialty green coffee beans with supreme aromas and flavors. Their dedication sets a new standard for coffee quality and ethics, attracting customers worldwide who value both.
Gil is deeply committed to environmental preservation, respecting forest areas around his farms and encouraging his employees to do the same. The coffees from Espigão Farm undergo a rigorous quality process, from initial cultivation and processing to post-harvest lot preparation, ensuring an exceptionally high-quality product.
Gil's roots are firmly embedded in coffee culture. He cherishes childhood memories of spending weekends and holidays on his grandfather's farm. Even at six years old, he loved being in the coffee fields, back when technology was different and coffee was transported by ox-carts.
Today, the family is in its fourth generation of coffee enthusiasts. Gil's children, Edu and Hugo, are now bringing fresh perspectives, knowledge, and innovation to the business.
